Ok so the first cover that I am going to do is by Glee....

HERE'S TO US....really a stunning song no matter who sings it but lets take a look...

The original is by Halestorm. Glee do it a bit faster with a bit more of a pop-py beat and more theatrical but i do think that this is really one of Glee's best covers because the singer (Lea Michele) really does sing it with a lot of passion....however in this case I think I am going to have to say that I do think the original is better because the intention and the genre (more rock/pop) is better for the song. I really do love the cover though....

INTRODUCTION TO COVER WEEK

Ok so because I am doing covers it would be weird not to do some stuff by Glee. 
I actually love Glee, I wouldn't say I am a massive fan but I think they sing well and have some interesting interpretations on the songs plus the show is enjoyable enough....


I understand that some people really dislike it but I am not only going to do Glee, there are hundreds or other covers so please bear with me if you are a Glee-hater and please do comment and let me know if you think the original or the cover is better for all of them... 


Ok so also the thing is that no one will ever manage to sing a cover with the same passion or expression of the original artist because they wrote it, they chose how to phrase it and the words mean so much more to them.....but some people really do pull it off...so have an open mind and we'll see which ones are actually successful....

Are they better or worse than the original, how was the interpretation? I will chat a bit about all of this. I am actually much much more for writing your own stuff but there's no harm in doing it if it's worth hearing AGAIN...

Have any of your heard of  A FINE FRENZY


Funny enough, its not a band, it is just Alison Sudol who has called herself that but nevertheless she has some really great stuff. She is a singer/songwriter and plays some beautiful piano too. I really love her and her music one of my favourite is called ALMOST LOVER, a really sad but stunning song....one of those thats gets stuck in your head for days and has lyrics that actually make you listen intently every time you hear it.....


A Fine Frenzy also has a nice variety for example the two songs that I am going to give you, both great, are so so different....she also has a wide range so can reach high and low notes, which adds that depth to the songs and she also has great control of her voice and displays some really crafty voice techniques. 


The other song that I love it called WHAT I WOULDN'T DO, though the message in the song is actually really sad, she has used such an upbeat, happy tune, which changes the whole dynamic....She also has really beautiful lyrics and certain phrases which are really just beautiful...for example in this song I love one of the lines where she says "my heart's ticking like a bomb in a bird cage"...anyways, she is just really great!

                     WHAT I WOULDN'T DO: 80%

Ok found another nice Hayley Taylor song, a like it more than NO MORE WISHING.....its also in Pretty Little Liars so is really easy listening stuff.....

I dont know anything else by her but I am currently downloading some more stuff so will fill you in when I get them if they're any good....


This is really just a fairly simple really pretty song, nice beat and some nice harmonies. I quite like her voice, its an acquired taste but I happen to like it, a nice gentle and quiet yet strong voice...so wroth a listen, although I do know that its not what everyone likes but see what you think...

My rating is 69% (I am being quite harsh but its in comparison to the other stuff I have rated-I wouldn't write about it if I didn't think it was a nice listen)....
