Another song that I found on last.fm is GIVING IT UP FOR YOU by HOLLY BROOK


I quite honestly don't know anything about her and this is the only song of hers that I know but it really is a jewel....like one of those precious songs that you find every now and then...I don't know if its the actual song though, its more its actual composition....its got a really nice blend of instruments and cleverly uses the off beat in the verses to sort of add an unsuspected twist. I starts with some plain piano chords but still effective you know, just really basic yet so pretty piano harmonies. 


I love Holly Brook's voice...I am not usually a huge fan of "rough" voices but she has a wonderful diversity where she can have this rustic unusual voice and then later int he song, we hear it change to be really pretty and feminine and gentle so for me, she's definitely and artists to keep tabs on. 


It is such a stunning song....I think I'm going to try to giving some sort of rating just to show how songs compare for me. This is just my opinion so if you disagree that is completely ok too. So for me, I think I would five this song about 86% (yeah, I really love it).....


Its really interesting though because Brook is actually now known as Skylar Grey who is a lot more famous and well-known under that name so you can also check out some of her songs as Grey for example I love COMING HOME. It just really shocked me because I know Skylar Grey but only just found out about Holly Brook and turns out they're the same person although Skylar definitely did some changing in her voice since because she sounds very different. I cant say which I prefer better because I only know a few but Holly Brook's voice is really beautiful in this song.

it s such a beautiful song! They're a Scottish rock/pop boy band and they are really amazing because they use a really catchy beat, beautiful harmonies and I really love the lead singer's voice....so beautiful.

Ok so a couple  of weeks ago I was searching on last.fm for nice music and an artist called Birdy popped up. Now I had never heard of her before but apparently so started off her singing career really young, and wow, she is fantastic! 


She was born in 1996 as Jasmine van den Bogaerde but made her stage name Birdy which makes her probably  around 16 or so now. In 2008 (when she was 12) she won Open Mic UK singing Skinny Love by Bon Iver. Usually I am much more for writing your own stuff but this is honestly one of the most beautiful covers I have heard. I give complete credit for the song writing to Bon Iver but Birdy really did a great job. 


The song starts off really quite and simple and in times you can hear how young she actually was but its just so so pretty! It one of those songs where even though the lyrics are beautiful, you don't have to to have them because they song by itself just with the melody and the music is so pure and absolutely stunning in my opinion. I cant lie and say that I know a lot about Birdy, this is the only song that I know so far but most definitely not the last....it will also be interesting to see some of the stuff that she does a bit older like now....


So really do yourself a favour and listen to it....it is not for everyone but i absolutely love it!

Just incase you're wondering why I keep putting pictures of the artist, its because I fine it really interesting to see how someone's voice compares to how they look....I hope that doesn't sound creepy, haha, I promise I'm not crazy.....what I mean is just that sometimes I don't know how an artists looks and then when I see him/her, I am so surprised and its just like oh, thats odd, that completely not how I imagined them, so anyways, haha, I know thats weird but thats just what I was thinking...


Another really cool band to check out if you haven't already, and I am almost sure you have is MUMFORD AND SONS....they're great! Really different and a sort of folk like poppy music but really almost "warm" and cheery...


THE CAVE is a favorite so check it out.... I like them a lot but it is an acquired taste and I don't like to listen to too many songs of theirs in a row but anyways, take a look...

I dont know if any of you watch One Tree Hill? its a really great series that I enjoy but recently there's been some really good music by some of the actresses on the show like:


KATE VOEGELE AND JANA KRAMER


Kate Voegele is really great! She plays Mia on One tree Hill too. I love her, some of the songs are quite jazzy and poppy but her voice is really different (in a good way) and the actual tunes are really amazing, I cant stop listening to her! So I;m not going to add hundred of links and videos cause I love them all but some of my favorites are ANGEL, YOU CANT BREAK A BROKEN HEART AND my best of all KINDLY UNSPOKEN....if you have little time, check this out first, it is the most played on my itunes and I love it....


Jana Kramer is very different she plays Alex on the show. Her voice is much more country-ish and if you are at all interested in country or country pop, that sort of thing, you'll probably enjoy her too....I really like WHISKEY and WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YOUR LOVE

I am meant to be studying right now cause I have a big physics exam tomorrow buuut, I have been procrastinating by downloading music and I found some really interesting songs...

who knew Leighton Meester could sing?! I've always known her from Gossip Girl and Monte Carlo, etc but I has no clue that she sang, and further more that she is actually really good...

So I havent seen the movie yet but both of these songs (as far as I know) are from one of her newer movies called Country Strong.

Ok so to start off I think I should tell you about this really great site that I found....trust me, its super cool!

Ok so basically its a music site but one section on its allows you to type in an artist that you like and it will bring up literally hundreds of similar artists. But what I like so much about this site is that the artists that it brings up are not all typical artists that we know....a lot of them are not yet super famous or sort of more alternative artists and real jewels that are really amazing...its also quite refreshing to hear new voices. Although it also has all the artists you know of too...

So this blog is kind of just a mix-up of everything going on but I am going to try to focus it mainly on music because that is what is possibly one of the most beautiful things in the world, to me, at least.
